GUESS-WHy (Grant Agreement No. 101192392) is a project funded under the Horizon Europe Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking, dedicated to enhancing both sustainability and safety in Fuel Cell and Hydrogen (FCH) systems across Europe. The consortium unites research institutions, industrial stakeholders, and policy experts to produce practical guidance on Safe and Sustainable-by-Design (SSbD) principles for multiple hydrogen applications. By integrating lifecycle assessments, hazard identification, and stakeholder inputs, GUESS-WHy aims to refine product concepts, reduce negative impacts from the design phase onward, and bridge gaps identified in previous EU-funded projects such as eGHOST and SH2E. Through close collaboration, the partners intend to deliver validated, actionable guidelines that bolster the EU’s goal of a cleaner and safer hydrogen economy.
